When people, teams and leaders come together with the right attitude and skills to communicate effectively, relationships flourish, time is saved, and objectives are met collaboratively and with ease. However, with so many different ways of delivering messages and the naturally subjective human bias of interpretation, achieving clarity can be a challenge. High levels of self-awareness and empathy, and some easy-to-use tools and techniques can help to ensure that messages are heard and understood.
Effective communication is a two-way street
86%
of employees and executives cite the lack of effective collaboration and communication as the main causes of workplace failures (Salesforce 2023)
Who is it for: Hybrid, in-the-office and remote teams who want to increase their ability to communicate effectively.
During this programme your team will explore...
The Human Communication Model: Starting with the basics, delegates will learn the complexity of communication and why it can so often go wrong. With this model in mind and through peer group conversation, attendees will delve a little deeper into their unconscious biases through the Insights Discovery Colour model and preferences of behaviour.
Communication Styles: With bias in mind and understanding that we all have unique perceptions and preferred styles of behaviour and communication, delegates use the four main styles of communication as a framework for feedback on how their communication style shows up to others.
Listening, Questioning and Reflecting: The art of effective communication lies in our ability to listen to what's really being said beyond the words, to question appropriately, and to separate our own perceptions and emotion from the meaning we might form. During this session delegates will learn situational awareness, the difference in question types, and take away some tools to improve active listening.
Confidence and Courage: Confidence is a belief in one's self and abilities. Courage is the act of pushing beyond that belief to do something different. Through the Strengths section of the Insights Discovery profile, delegates will identify, share and celebrate the areas in which they communicate most skilfully, and identify situations where they could adapt their style to achieve a better outcome.
Communicating with Impact: The Insights Discovery profile's Effective Communication section offers personalised statements on the recipient's strengths, weaknesses and suggestions for development. These are used for peer group discussion, resulting in tangible actions mapped through SMART goals, with the aim of improving the impact of their communication style on those they manage, lead, or engage with back in the workplace.
Differences you will see:
Improved self-awareness and understanding of colleagues
Strategies to communicate more effectively with specific people
Greater appreciation of different communication styles and their needs
Clearer, more respectful communication taking place at all levels
Better questioning and the ability to listen more effectively
Deeper, more trusting relationships through peer group coaching
